What is Epochia?

Epochia is a grand-strategy board game set in the ancient Mediterranean world, where players step into the roles of legendary civilizations such as Athens, Sparta, Egypt, Carthage, and the Phoenician city-states. Inspired by the depth of computer classics like Civilization and Total War, Epochia transforms their epic scale into a dynamic tabletop experience. Every round is a meaningful choice as you expand territories, forge alliances, wage battles, and shape your empire’s destiny.

Strategic depth, No dice

Epochia is built on pure strategy, not luck. There are no dice rolls—your decisions, planning, and foresight determine the outcome. Use ambassadors to claim cities, trade at the market, gather resources, or secure powerful historical sites. Command armies across land and sea, form alliances or break them for tactical advantage, and outmaneuver your rivals through careful positioning and clever timing.

Every empire offers unique abilities and iconic landmarks that enhance your gameplay style. You will balance three key pillars of progress:

  • Diplomacy — Expand influence, negotiate alliances, and gain prestige.

  • Strength — Recruit armies, win battles, and dominate contested regions.

  • Economy & Culture — Secure resources, build landmarks, and claim ancient wonders like Knossos, Petra, Troy, or Göbekli Tepe.

Players begin in their capital and expand outward—constructing ships, launching naval battles, securing trade routes, or establishing cultural dominance. Each map tile influences your path, pushing you to adapt your strategy in every game.
